This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions. We have written it in specific terms so that you know where you stand before you pay.
1. Cooling-off period
You may cancel any booking within 14 days of payment and receive a full refund, provided no lesson has yet taken place and no programme materials have been delivered. If a lesson has taken place during that period, we refund the balance after deducting the fee for lessons delivered.
2. Individual lessons
● Cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice:rescheduled at no charge, or refunded in full
● Cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice:charged in full
● Student does not attend and does not notify us:charged in full
● We cancel or cannot deliver: rescheduled at no charge, or refunded in full
● Technical failure on our side prevents the lesson:rescheduled at no charge, or refunded in full
3. Multi-lesson packages
● Unused lessons may be refunded at any time, calculated at the per-lesson rate applicable to the number of lessons actually taken. Where a discount applied to the block, the refund is calculated at the undiscounted rate for lessons used.
● Lessons expire 12 months after purchase.
4. Bootcamps and intensive courses
● Cancel more than 14 days before the start date:full refund
● Cancel 7 to 14 days before the start date: 50% refund
● Cancel less than 7 days before, or after the course begins: no refund, because the place cannot be resold at that notice
● If we cancel the course: full refund
5. Competition mentorship programmes
Mentorship work is heavily concentrated at the start of a programme, in question selection, research direction and structural planning. Refunds are therefore calculated against progress reached, not against sessions remaining.
● Before the first session: nothing earned, full refund
● Question selection and research plan delivered: 25% of the fee earned
● Outline agreed and first draft reviewed: 50% of the fee earned
● Second draft reviewed and redrafting under way: 75% of the fee earned
● Final review and submission preparation complete: 100% of the fee earned
Your refund is the amount you have paid, less the portion earned at the stage reached when you notify us in writing.
6. If we end the engagement
● Where we end an engagement for our own reasons, we refund all fees for work not yet performed.
● Where we end it because of a serious breach of our Terms, including a request that we act contrary to our academic integrity clause, we refund fees for work not yet performed but not for work already done.
7. How refunds are made
● Refunds are returned to the original payment method, unless that is impossible.
● We process refunds within 10 working days of agreeing them. Your bank or card issuer may take longer to show the funds.
● Refunds are made in the original currency. We are not responsible for exchange rate movements between payment and refund, or for fees charged by your own bank.
8. Exceptional circumstances
Where serious illness, bereavement or another significant event prevents a Student continuing, please contact us. We will consider a credit or a refund on a case-by-case basis, whatever this policy would otherwise say. We would rather be reasonable than rigid.
9. Before you raise a chargeback
If something has gone wrong, please contact us first at james@bryereducation.com. We respond within 3 working days and we resolve most issues quickly. A chargeback raised without contacting us costs both of us time and money, and we can usually fix the problem faster ourselves.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Nothing in it removes any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of your own country of residence.
